Nap Time

It is nap time and I have decided to resurrect my blog. It was so great but I stopped when I was pregnant. Mostly because that is all I could think about. Pregnancy consumed me. Needless to say I am now consumed with parenthood, and mommy dates, but I find I have much more to say about that. I am also pretty darn fit again and I have many words about that too. So if my post are short and disorganized so be it. At least I am present and enjoying the blogsphere I missed so dearly.

Amazingly Tastey

Amazing is all I have to say about...a box of Devil's Food Cake, and one large can of pumpkin (29oz). This treat is moist and dense. I love it.

Last night I made this to celebrate my husband and I's 2nd anniversary. I also made some strawberry frozen yogurt in our new ice cream maker. We grilled up some steak in one of our favorite marinades and then we had a big salad. Okay not in that order.

I am listing these foods in order of my favorite. Wow. Happy tummy and in love. What more could a girl ask for in life?

Loving the weather

I love summer. This time of year on the east coast is amazing. People tend to hibernate all winter and it is so nice to come out and see the sun again. Today my husband spent the entire day landscaping our beds and we are about to head out for some errands. You know I find that owning and keeping up a house makes for a lot less time shopping. I guess I don't get it. You have to stop shopping as much to save for a house and when you finally get one you don't shop as much. Okay well, maybe for the little things. The stuff we do buy is astronomically more expensive. We used to take trips to Target when we were renting or living in the condo. I would be convinced I needed stuff that I probably didn't really need. I would redecorate every season.

Tonight it is a light veggie pasta for dinner. Not sure what all I am going to throw in there but I know it will be healthy and tasty and full of summer love. Anyways just wanted to say hi to all of you enjoying the pretty days...I never regret taking advantage of these days in February.

Almost 100 days left

So it is hard to believe that I have 115 days left of pregnancy. Today I was trying to figure out when and how my brother would come back to see his first ever nephew. Granted I know my parents are just being nice but my mom reminded me of her stillbirth and told me that I should just get my brother a plane ticket (he is broke, which is a whole different post), once the baby is for sure coming. Her suggestion was to have him come home right after the birth.

So for obvious reasons my mom doesn't open up about her miscarriage. It was way before me and with a previous husband, but as we get closer she does open up. I guess her stillbirth was at full term. She told me today what happened during the entire process. My dad softened it by reassuring me that I probably have better care than she had at the time. Needless to say it is scary.

Thoughts? Will the fear ever go away or is it something you always have to have in the back of your mind as a parent to be/parent?

Steaming Chicken

I hope my readers out there remember that Sunday is my favorite day. I also love to cook, and to me there is nothing better than cooking with the windows open on a Sunday at home! Husband is working in the yard and I am cooking away. I even made him lemonade and brought it out to him while he was working. Very cute!

I love spring cooking. I say this every year. According to my husband I say that I love winter cooking at the start of winter as well. I think it is something about the changing of the seasons that invigorates my senses.

Today I am steaming so chicken to put into chicken salad. I have never steamed chicken before. I have also never made chicken salad from scratch either. I am making it to pack in my lunch. Anyone who has been pregnant knows the joys of retaining water. I figured out really early with a can of tomato soup that I could go up 3 or 4 pounds in a day. This feels just like it sounds...not good. Why can't my tongue retain some water? So with all the sodium in canned chicken, I figured it is just better to start from scratch and make my own. I am sure it is much better too!

For dinner, I am making salmon wrapped in phyllo (sp?) dough with spices and asparagus in the middle of the wrap. Tasty stuff. And lots of healthiness as well.

Happy Sunday!

Happy April 18h

I have not been on blogger since February. Sad, but true. Did I enjoy my time off? Well, yes, but now I am back and hopefully here to stay. What has been going on? I am loving, or rather in love with the Twilight Series. I am on book 3 and almost finished. I am going to watch the movie after I finish all the books. My poor husband is getting jealous of the books.

I have been on vacation. I couldn't take the cold weather out east, so we went down to sunny Florida for a week.

I have been getting bigger and bigger by the day, and the baby in me moves like crazy. Oh yes, and I found out we are having a BOY! Paint the town BLUE. There is a boy coming to our house.

There are still many adventures to be had, such as painting the room, of course birthing the baby, and trying to stay in my weight range with this one. You unfortunately can't gorge on ice cream through pregnancy either...sorry girls!

Anyways, I hope to catch up stop by all the blogs I love and follow so much and re-join my blogger community.

No it's not!

No it is not spring yet! This winter with the added fatigue of pregnancy has been especially long for me. I am in the second trimester now and fortunately coming out of the coma. Unfortunately I got up to find some more snow on the ground and some freezing temperatures to go with it.

Lucky for me, vacation is in 4 weeks. We are going to the beach. I have been doing little things to help me prepare for this trip, such as looking at vacation sites. Moving my bathing suit to the front of my closet where I can great it every morning, and 3 or 4 new dresses for the trip have helped me feel more mentally removed.

So the count down begins for me. I am sure that everyone has been there though. I feel like this break will be wonderful and the hubby.

It will be our last vacation without kids and I know there will be lots of fun memories.

Needless to say it has passed and I am due to post a new AWARD POST. Yes I got another award. The post will be coming soon.

Happy Friday, stay healthy everyone and enjoy the day. It is going to be a frigid weekend out east! Stay in a blog!

Something to do on Sunday

My husband is working all day today so I promised to go to the grocery store. This means on this Sunday, which as you all know by now, is my lazy day, I have an obligation. I think I am going to head to the grocery after I type this message. Not sure how the weather is where you are, but for me this means putting on the warm clothes and uggs and venturing out in the snow. It is okay though. I might give in at the grocery to some goodness. Not sure what goodness that will be yet, but I will be sure to report.

In other news, I am continuing my 11 to 12 hours of sleep a night. Building a baby takes alot of work, and I do feel like I am hibernating through my first trimester. Fortunately it is cold outside and I don't mind.

After I get back from the grocery I may just hop on the Wii fit for a bit and then I plan to take a shower and put the sweats on and curl up with my book.

Oh yes, and I am off work tomorrow for MLK day! Yeah for me! Another day of R and R. I swear this summer I will make up for all the relaxing I do now!

I received an award! Thank You Northern Belle!

They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! 2. Just Moi
3. Nautical by Nature
4. Victoria's Muddy Secrets
5. Namaste By Day
6. M & G
7. Tripping Down the Isle
8. This Glorious Family

Snow and Cold Out East

I hate to be negative here but I am not a winter fan at all. Granted I have heard from people who live in warmer climates that the cool weather comes there too, and they feel cold just as we do here out east. But come on....18 degrees versus 40. I will take 40 any day over that. I think it is just something with the bone chilling cold that I don't like. Fortunately I have some comfortable PJ pants and some lovely new socks to bundle up. My plans for this Sunday include a cardio workout and a nice crockpot meal. I am hoping to watch a movie too. What are your plans for this Sunday? What is your favorite way to warm up?

The Heart of it All

Today I went to my 8 week checkup. I cannot believe it is 8 weeks! We had an ultrasound and I saw the little baby's heart beating. What a huge sigh of relief and a good feeling. My husband got tears in his eyes. We love our doctor and just know this is going to be an amazing journey!

Sweats

Sunday sweat suit day is great. It involves the couch a comfortable pair of sweatpants and me. You know I have never been a big nap lover, but right now, there is nothing better. Today it is rainy and decently warm, but overcast and rainy. I plan on going to 9 am spinning class and then coming home and changing into my favorite lounge wear. Can anyone imagine anything any better? I love it!
